John Currin (Art is funny)
For my final blog post, I wanted to talk about an artist that I found in my Discovery to find contemporary artists to expand my knowledge and widen my horizon on what is possible in the art world than the people working today. That's when I came across John Currin He's an American painter who I find extremely fascinating. His artwork conveys all the intricate techniques of a master painter but has a fun whimsical element to it. The portraits he paints are beautifully done with light colors smooth brush strokes and amazing detail but they also have an unworldly funny element to them. I particularly like the two JFK's as little girls painting. It's things that are fun and different and weird but with all the same style and techniques as Leonardo da Vinci. He draws a wide range of inspiration from multiple sources such as pin-up magazines paintings Renaissance Era artwork and much more and he ties it all together in a way that's something new he's manipulating dist
